Finding no merit in the request made to amend his pending petition challenging election of Haryana Sports Minister Subhash Kataria from Gurgaon, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday dismissed an application moved by Umesh Aggarwal of rights group Matdata Jagrookta Manch.
In a petition before the court,Aggarwal had alleged that Kataria and his close relatives had cast thousands of forged votes in the October 13,2009 Haryana Assembly elections. Claiming that he has more evidence, including instances of bogus voting,to strengthen his case against Kataria,Aggarwal had requested the Court that he be allowed to amend his election petition and place on record the new evidence.
The court on Monday held that the petitioner could have annexed the evidence at the time of filing of the election petition.
The petition will now come up for hearing on July 13.
