The elections for seven municipal corporations and two municipal committees in Haryana will be held on June 2.

Announcing the schedule Thursday,the state Election Commission said elections will be held in the municipal corporations of Ambala,Panchkula,Karnal,Panipat,Hisar,Rohtak and Yamuna Nagar and municipal committees of Kalanaur (Rohtak) and Farukh Nagar (Gurgaon).

Byelections in Ward 3 of Narwana municipal council in Jind district and Ward 7 of Gharaunda municipal committee (Karnal) will also be held on the same date,state Election Commissioner Dharam Vir said,adding that the results will be announced on June 4.

With the announcement of the date,the model code of conduct in the areas where elections will be held has come into force,he said,adding that till the election process is completed,no official connected with the election work in seven districts will be transferred.

The State Election Commissioner said,Returning Officer will publish notice on May 10,inviting nominations from candidates and nominations can be filed in between May 16 and 21.

The nominations will be scrutinised from on May 22 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be May 23,he said adding that symbols will be allotted to candidates on May 23 after 3 pm and polling will be held on June 2 between 8 am and 5 pm.

Counting of votes for municipal committees will be held on June 2 itself,immediately after closing of polls and on June 4 for Municipal Corporations,he said.”

“Polls will be conducted with Electronic Voting Machines. The electoral rolls were published on April 5 and posted on the website of the Commission and the concerned district administration,” Dharam Vir said.

He said any person,whose name has not been included in the electoral rolls can apply to the concerned Deputy Commissioner alongwith a fees of Rs.10 in the case of Municipal Corporation and Re one in the case of Municipal Council or Committee,not later than four days from the date of publication of election programme.

The poll panel has enhanced the limit of the expenditure to be incurred by a contesting candidate or his authorised election agents to Rs1,75,000 for a member of Municipal Corporation,Rs 75,000 for the member of Municipal Council and Rs 50,000 for the member of Municipal Committee.
