The Haryana government on Sunday released a compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Ministers relief fund for the next of kin of Vikrant Yadav,who died after being run over by a truck driven by alleged cow smugglers last week,sparking protests by irate locals.
A draft of this amount has reached the Gurgaon district administration and will be handed over to the family members of Vikrant,Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi said. As per notifications issued by the state government to name the Chowk,where the incident took place,after Vikrant Yadav was in process and would take some more time, he added.
The 24-year-old youth,who hailed from Khawaspur village,was allegedly run over by the vehicle in which cow smugglers in Gurgaon district were trying to escape,after he chased them on his motorcycle on the night of August 24.
Two companies of CRPF and BSF along with Haryana Police jawans took out a flag march in Pataudi and Farukhnagar areas on Sunday while two companies of paramilitary forces had already reached Pataudi area on Saturday. The situation is under control, SDM Pataudi Manoj Khatri said.
More than 45 religious,social and political organisations,including 42 village panchayats,and two municipal committees have passed resolutions appealing people to maintain peace and harmony in the region.
