Haryana cop held for stealing Rs 1.25 cr at gunpoint,another cop absconding

A Haryana Police constable has been arrested for stealing Rs 1.25 crore at gunpoint from a businessman in Ghaziabad on March 14.

A Haryana Police constable has been arrested for stealing Rs 1.25 crore at gunpoint from a businessman in Ghaziabad on March 14. The driver of the trader,Ravi,and his mother Chandrawati,have also been arrested.

“Haryana Police officer Sanjeev was arrested for stealing from R K Sharma,a businessman. Abour Rs 6 lakh and his rifle were recovered. Another Haryana policeman,Naresh,is absconding,” SSP Nitin Tiwari said.

The two policemen had hatched a plan to steal with the help of Ravi and his mother Chandrawati,said police. “They thought about stealing from R K Sharma by using their own rifles,as long as Ravi was there to help them get into the trader’s house. The mother was to hide the cash and provide alibis for them,” said the SSP.

The raid at Ravi’s house led to the recovery of Rs 70 lakh in cash on March 25. It was during interrogation that Ravi told police about Sanjeev. A raid at Sanjeev’s house led to the recovery of Rs 6 lakh and his rifle,said police.
