‘Harassment forced Bihar minister’s son to attempt suicide’

Bihar Cooperative Minister Jay Kumar Singh’s son allegedly tried to take his life because he was harassed by seniors in Scindia School, Gwalior Police said Saturday.

The 15-year-old is undergoing treatment at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in Delhi, where he was rushed in a critical condition on Thursday, hours after he was found unconscious in his hostel room.

ASP Yusuf Kureshi, who visited the school with forensic experts, said that prima facie, it appears to be a case of attempted suicide because of alleged harassment by seniors. The boy tried to hang himself using a bedsheet, Kureshi said.

The police have spoken to students, the victim’s brother and doctors in hospitals where the teenager was first taken. No case has been registered by the police so far.
