The first list of 13 candidates of the HAM (S), former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party, was announced Friday. Most of the rebels who defected from the JD (U) with Manjhi got tickets, so did his son Santosh Kumar Suman.
Manjhi will seek re-election from Maqdumpur. He was reportedly advised to contest from Imamganj against Assembly speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary, but he chose the safer option. Manjhi had unsuccessfully contested from Gaya Lok Sabha seat as a JD (U) nominee. His son Santosh, who teaches at a private college, joined the party recently and was made its general secretary. He was given a ticket from Kutumba in Aurangabad, a Naxal-hit Assembly segment.
