The wife of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ravneet Garg was found shot dead in a high-security area in Gurgaon on Wednesday evening. Police suspect it to be case of suicide but are probing all angles.

Surinder Singh,DCP (Gurgaon West),said: “The body of Geetanjali Garg (25) was found in the jungle behind the police parade ground near Civil Lines. The body had two bullet injuries —- one under the chin and the other on the chest. Prima facie,it seems that she was shot at point-blank range. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. We will get a complete picture as to the nature of injuries once the report comes in on Thursday.”

Police said preliminary investigations pointed to suicide but were looking at all angles.

Gurgaon Commissioner of Police Alok Mittal said,“A .32 bore revolver was found close to the body. Our investigation has revealed that it is a licensed weapon owned by the CJM. She died between 4.30 pm and 5 pm. Children playing nearby saw the body first. They alerted passersby, who called the police.”

“Our preliminary investigations have revealed that Geetanjali,a housewife and a mother of two daughters, had moved to Gurgaon from Yamuna Nagar with her family around three months ago. She was just settling into the new city. She used to go for a stroll near the police grounds every evening. On Wednesday, she left her mobile phone home when she went for a walk,” a police officer said.
