Samajwadi Party chief and leader of Opposition in the UP Assembly Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday criticised Governor TV Rajeswar, saying he was the BSP point man and had destroyed the Congress in the state.

“The Governor is dancing to the tune of the BSP and working on their behalf but the Congress leadership is ignorant of the facts. The law and order situation in the state was deteriorating by the day,but the claim of the Governor that it was improving was ample proof of his nexus with the BSP Government,” he alleged.

Talking to reporters after the Governor’s address was disrupted by the Opposition members,Yadav said the Governor had conveyed to the Congress leaders that the BSP would win hands down in the Lok Sabha elections and the party would then support the Congress prime ministerial candidate.

“The Congress thinks the Governor is helping them but instead he is destroying the party in the state,” he said. The SP had demanded the Governor’s removal when Mulayam was chief minister.

“During my tenure, this Governor used to send daily reports to the Centre on law and order situation but what has happened to him now?” Mulayam asked, adding “he used to shoot one letter a day to me and sometimes even two letters in a day but now he is silent”.

“What kind of law and order is this where a PWD engineer is killed by BSP MLA Shekhar Tewari for failing to fork out Rs 10 lakh as donation for Chief Minister Mayawati’s birthday while SP leader Kamlesh Pathak was detained under the NSA for opposing the gruesome murder?” the SP chief asked.

Alleging that “the state witnessed several murders and suicides in the past one month when people were forced to give donations for the CM’s birthday”,Mulayam said a BSP minister had grabbed prime land in the state capital worth Rs 200 crore.
