The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Wahab Momin alias Wahab, 34, from Sealdah, Kolkata, on Saturday in connection with the Burdwan blast case. According to the NIA, Momin is a trained member of Jamat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and was closely associated with the activities of JMB by providing shelter to JMB cadres from Bangladesh, including Tarikul Islam and Nasirullah, who are absconding since the blast on October 2, 2014.

He was also allegedly involved in organising meetings of JMB cadre at his residence as well as recruitment of youth into JMB, as per statement of witnesses. He had been absconding since the blast. With his arrest, the number of persons arrested in the case has risen to 18.

The next day, just before he could board the flight to Delhi, an embassy official gave him a phone. “Wanakkam (Greetings),” said the voice at the other end. It was Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Welcome home. God has saved you,” said Modi. “I said, ‘No sir, you have saved me’,” says Kumar.
