Former UDF Minister K B Ganesh Kumar on Monday pleaded before Lokayukta that it should probe into the wealth amassed by Kerala public works minister V K Ibrahimkunju.
Kumar, who had quit as a minister two years back, said Indian Union Muslim League leader Ibrahimkunju had been a gardener three decades back. The Income Tax Department, under the supervision of the Lokayukta, should probe into the unaccounted wealth he had amassed after becoming a full-time politician. Neither he nor his family members have any other sources of income, said Kumar, whose Kerala Congress (B) had recently quit the UDF.
The Lokayukta asked Kumar to submit an affidavit on April 16 after compiling the evidences he had collected against the minister.
Kumar said the minister’s office was reluctant to give documents about road works even after seeking them under right to information act. Hence, the Lokayukta should seize the evidences for corruption.
He said the UDF government has institutionalized corruption and he would submit clinching evidence against the minister.
Muslim League general secretary K P A Majeed said a desperate Kumar was making baseless allegations against the minister. The part would defend the minister, he said.
