In what could be a step towards joining active politics, former Army Chief General VK Singh (retd) will share the stage with the Indian National Lok Dal leaders during Haryana’s main Opposition party’s political rally in Rewari on November 1.

Singh, who had locked horns with the Centre on the issue of his retirement-age,had criticised the UPA government during a rally organised by the ex-servicemen in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district a few days before he retired.

Since then,he had been seen sharing the stage with activist Anna Hazare and India Against Corruption’s Arvind Kejriwal. A couple of months ago,Singh had visited Gorakhpur village in Fatehabad district of Haryana and expressed solidarity with villagers, who were protesting against the setting up of a nuclear power plant in the area.

Incidentally, the INLD too had protested against the setting up of the nuclear plant, but had to give in eventually after most of the villagers accepted the compensation offered by the state government in lieu of the acquisition of their land and ended the agitation.
