The idea of wearing denims and skinny pants in this sweltering heat is almost revolting. Also if you’re one of the lucky ones who hail from the monsoon regions, thick fabrics are still a terrible idea. They soak the rain splashes and take forever to dry off, leaving you wet and sticky the whole day, especially if you happen to sit on a wet cab seat!
This summer we have girlies flaunting the ripe ‘mango’ colour and of course the pop of neon. Whites are always perfect and breezy, but maybe not such a smart choice for the rains.
It’s a perfect time to flaunt those legs. Opt for skirts – flair, pencil, short or knee-length. Abstract arty prints, girly florals or self colours look pretty and fun. Wear them with tank tops or a loose fitted tee and youre good to go.
Another easy-going trend are shorts, comfy and sexy, both for the rain as well as the heat! In khaki or white, bright colours like orange and yellow, printed or formal trouser material. Pair with a self-coloured shirt for formal accasions and accesorise with a blingy belt for night outs.
Maxi dresses are another trend this summer – in soft flowing fabrics like chiffon, wear them in prints. Works out well for a Sunday brunch with lil wedge sandals or as night out with a jacket. Long dangling earrings will complete the look, with some sort of elan.
Dresses always reign the summer season, especially in pastels and florals. Gladiators with a matching sling bag and your favourite shades are sure to grab eyeballs.
For the girls who prefer to ditch the dresses and skirts, there are the super-stylish palazzo pants, which are full-length trousers with a loose, extremely wide leg that flares out from the waist.
A popular summer trend, palazzos are loose and tend to be flattering in light, flowing fabrics that are breathable in hot weather like Silk crepe/crape.
Wear them in light colours like nude or white,or funky prints and tones of blue and green.
For our hippie lovers,we have the funky ‘dhoti pants’,especially if you’re taking a summer trip to Goa. Ultra comfy, these can be paired with racer-backs and chappels like kolhapuris in different colours or mojris.
When you’re comfortably clothed, not to mention feeling stylish and trendy, the summer aint so bad right! So how are you going to beat the heat this summer?
