First arrest in Muzaffarnagar gangrape cases

Around six cases of gangrape were lodged at Fugana police station in September by the women staying at the relief camps.

After over four months since the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts took place, the police made its first arrest in one of the six cases of alleged gangrape of victims staying in the relief camps.

Muzaffarnagar SSP H N Singh confirmed that the Uttar Pradesh Police’s special investigation cell, which is probing riot-related cases, has identified 22 locals, all belonging to the Hindu community, who were allegedly involved in the gangrape of the riot victims. One of the accused was arrested Friday.
