Emergency medical care for child abuse victims

The Haryana government has decided to provide emergency medical care to victims of child abuse by implementing the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act-2012 effectively.

The Haryana government has decided to provide emergency medical care to victims of child abuse by implementing the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act-2012 effectively.

A government spokesman said emergency medical care will be provided to such victims in such a manner that the privacy of the child is guarded. “It would be done in the presence of a parent or a guardian or any other person in whom the child trusts. No medical practitioner,hospital or other facility providing emergency medical care to a child,can demand any legal or magisterial requisition or other documentation as pre-requisite to rendering such care,” he added.
