Eleven labourers killed in Arunachal Pradesh road mishap

The vehicle first collided with roadside railings and then fell off the road into a deep gorge.

Eleven labourers were killed when a vehicle on way from Tezpur in Assam to Nafra in Arunachal Pradesh fell into a deep gorge in West Kameng district on Friday. Three others who sustained serious injuries were shifted to the government civil hospital in Tezpur.

West Kameng SP A Koan said the vehicle, a Cruiser, was carrying 14 persons, all contruction labourers from Sonitpur and Lakhimpur districts in Assam to a site in Nafra in West Kameng district, when it first collided with roadside railings and then fell off the road into a deep gorge near Sessa. The spot is about 75 kms from Tezpur.

It was on January 6 that six army personnel of the 11th Garhwal Regiment were killed in a similar road mishap in the same area. The army personnel were travelling from a location in Arunachal Pradesh to the Army’s 4 Corps headquarter in Tezpur.
