Information technology companies have been told to organise a mandatory viewing of the speech to be delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the launch of the NDA government’s Digital India Initiative on July 1.
A directive in this regard has been issued by the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) to all major IT companies in Bengaluru. STPI is a society under the Ministry of Communication and IT.
In a letter sent out this week, Devyesh Tyagi, senior director of the STPI, has instructed the companies to ensure that employees watch the PM’s event at the launch of Digital India Week and give a feedback.

According to the instructions, all companies must “make arrangements for the broadcast of the inaugural programme to be graced by the Prime Minister on July 1, 2015 starting at 16:00 hours at IG Stadium, New Delhi, for all the employees”.
According to a plan of action proposed by the STPI, all companies have been instructed to advertise the event on their websites and prepare for the webcast of the inaugural function.
On July 1, all IT firms must “make arrangements for showcasing the inaugural event in their common area with the available platform at their location”, and must “instruct all employees to watch the main event at their premises through TV/webcasting”, reads the directive.
The companies must provide feedback on the organisation of the event and participation through a Digital India Week app, it has been stated. “Nodal officers shall share the report on the event organised as indicated in the programme agenda after conclusion of the event, with STPI,” says the directive.
Apart from the remote participation of employees, companies have also been asked to ensure participation of “CEOs/Heads of companies accompanied with some of their employees in the main event at the IG stadium”.
A similar directive was issued last year by the Ministry of Human Resource Development on the occasion of Teacher’s Day, asking all central schools and state governments to ensure that children view the by PM’s speech and to file reports on the event.
