Manohar Parrikar, who took over as the 36th Defence Minister on Monday, was on Tuesday briefed by the Defence Secretary and three service chiefs on military matters.
Parrikar, who arrived at South Block at 8.30 am, was first briefed on defence acquisitions. This was followed by an Army briefing, during which emphasis was learnt to have been put on acquisition and issues pertaining to force structures and border matters.
The former Goa CM was also briefed by the Navy on matters pertaining to acquisition of naval platforms, ongoing procurements and the crucial 75i project. This was followed by IAF briefing, which, sources said were on similar lines.
