An Army Major working with the Danapur Military Hospital in Patna has accused his senior, a colonel holding charge of the COBRA pre-primary school, of having an illicit relationship with his wife, who is principal of the school.
The Danapur police filed an FIR against the colonel late on Wednesday after senior police officers intervened.
Patna City Superintendent of Police Shivdeep W Lande told The Indian Express: “We have lodged an FIR against Colonel Ravi Chander under various IPC sections for adultery, wrongful detention, criminal intimidation and snatching on the complaint of his colleague”.
The SP said the Major, a doctor at the Danapur Military Hospital, alleged that when he tried to collect evidence of the alleged relationship by “catching them red-haned” on 9 December, the colonel snatched his mobile phone.
The Major said he also had evidence of his wife frequently calling Colonel Chander and sending him messages on WhatsApp. Colonel Chander, however, said that the “allegations were baseless and made to tarnish his image”.
Asked if the Patna police questioned Colonel Chander, Lande said, “We have to seek permission from Army. There has been a standard process to follow to interrogate an Army officer. The first big step was to lodge the FIR”.
