Dal Khalsa slams Beant postal stamp
The Dal Khalsa on Monday took a dig at Centre for releasing postal stamp of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh terming the Congress leader as a murderer of Sikh youth. Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said the Centres decision to release the postal stamp as a tribute on the former chief ministers 18th death anniversary was tantamount to rubbing salt on the simmering wounds of the Sikh people.
Panel to protect inter-caste couples
A five-member committee has been set up by Amritsar administration on the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court to provide security to those couples who marry against their parents wishes and inter-caste marriages.
Admissions stopped at 23 ITIs
The Technical Education Department of Punjab government has stopped the admission process in 23 private ITIs,affiliated with National Council for Vocational Training. Anil Joshi,State Technical Education and Industrial Training Minister,said the admission process has been temporarily and a notice has been served after principals/inspecting officers pointed out deficiencies like poor training standard,lack of machinery/equipment,etc.
3 IAS officers promoted
On the recommendations of a screening committee,the Punjab government has promoted three senior IAS officers of 1983 batch,Navreet Singh Kang,Suresh Kumar and Jagpal Singh,in the pay scale of Chief Secretary Rs 80,000 per month (fixed) w.e.f August 28,2013 on completion of 30 years of service.
25-yr-old beheaded by husband
A 25-year-old woman was beheaded,allegedly by her husband in Mangali village in Bahal,Bhiwani district of Haryana. Monikas husband and in-laws have been booked on charges of murder and dowry demand.
