CPM, SP, JD(U) to convene meet of like-minded parties

The CPM, the Samajwadi Party and the JD(U) have decided to convene a meeting of like-minded parties here on February 3 to devise a common course over a wide range of issues.

After CPM veteran Sitaram Yechury, SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav and JD(U) secretary-general K C Tyagi set the ball rolling, Tyagi said, “We would invite leaders of all the 14 parties who participated in the October-30 Convention for People’s Unity Against Communalism at the Talkatora Stadium here.”

The convention was attended by the CPM, CPI, Forward Bloc, RSP, Samajwadi Party, JD(U), JD(S), AIADMK, Biju Janata Dal, Nationalist Congress Party, Republican Party of India, Asom Gana Parishad, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and the People’s Party of Punjab.

Gadchiroli: Naxals gun down 2 villagers
NAGPUR: Suspected Naxals killed two villagers at Kishtapur in Gadchiroli Monday night, the police said Tuesday. “Raju Ajmera, a kirana shopkeeper, and Laxman Sidam, a farm labourer, both around 35 years of age, were called out by Naxals and questioned over their alleged role as police informers. Thereafter, the Naxals took the two away, asked them to run and shot them from behind,” Gadchiroli SP Suvez Haq said. ENS
