Court hands over shooter Tara Shahdeo’s husband to Ranchi cops on transit remand

He reached Ranchi late Wednesday and was interrogated by the police at Namkum police station.

A Delhi court Wednesday handed over Ranjeet Singh Kohli to the Ranchi police on a three-day transit remand. Kohli has been accused by his wife, competitive shooter Tara Shahdeo, of domestic abuse and of coercing her to convert to Islam.

He reached Ranchi late Wednesday and was interrogated by the police at Namkum police station. He will be presented at a local court tomorrow. Worried that right-wing organisations may create a law and order situation when he arrives, the police are keeping his whereabouts under wraps.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate at Dwarka courts complex Satish Kumar Arora sent Kohli and his 65-year-old mother Kaushal Rani to transit remand and asked the Jharkhand police to produce them before the concerned court in three days.

The court said, “I have heard the submissions of the Special Cell, Delhi Police, and gone through the records that NBW have been issued against accused Ranjit Kumar Kohli and his mother by the Ranchi court. The transit remand is granted.”
