A contractor has been booked for misleading the police after he gave them the wrong address of an employee, whose body was found near a construction site in Sector-58,Gurgaon.

The body of Narender was found on March 23,a little distance away from the IERO building. Clashes had broken out at IERO after a worker fell to his death from the sixth floor of an under-construction building of the company.

Though the body was found the same day when around 4,000 contract workers of IERO went on rampage, police said, the death was not related to the incident.

A post-mortem examination of the body revealed that Narender died of alcohol poisoning, police said. The body had no external injuries.

After checking with contractor,Prabhakant, police came to know that Narender had not been attending work since March 21.

Based on the address provided by Prabhakant, police took the body to a family in Panna village in Madhya Pradesh. The family, however, was shocked to see the body and denied any relation with Narender. Following this, the body was brought back to Gurgaon, police said.

Investigations revealed that the address provided by the contractor was incorrect, police added.

“We will initiate action against the contractor for misleading the police. We will also investigate why the contractor had enrolled the worker under false address. The body will now be sent to the correct family,” said Hamid Akhtar,DCP (South).

Narender was a resident of Dholi village in MP.
