The state government has included malaria in the list of 27 other diseases that are to be treated on an “emergency” basis for the police and other state government employees in select districts. The districts covered include Gadchiroli,Gondia,Bhandara,Yavatmal and Chandrapur in Vidarbha and Nanded in Marathwada.
The inclusion follows appeal by the Gadchiroli police to the government that many policemen had taken ill due to malaria while on anti-Naxal operations. Citing the death of four policemen this year,the police had requested the government to allow emergency treatment facility for malaria-affected policemen.
“With this,not just police but other state government employees will also benefit,” said V R Zare,Assistant Director (Malaria),Health Services.
“Our men will now be able to avail Kutumb Arogya Yojana cashless facility at any private hospital,” said SP Suvez Haq.
