A Punjab Police head constable was on Saturday arrested by the Jalandhar (Rural) police for allegedly sodomizing an eight-year-old boy. He has also been dismissed from service.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Gaurav Yadav dismissed head constable Sanjiv Kumar for the act,which happened on Friday.
The father of the victim,a migrant labourer,had rented a single room in Kumar’s house. The constable allegedly lured by boy by offering him biscuits when he was alone at home. Following this,Kumar took the boy to his room and allegedly sodomized him.
“My son managed to flee the room after freeing himself from the clutches of the constable,who was drunk,My was in a bad condition,” said the father,adding that the boy’s uncle saw him bleeding badly. The victim was taken to police station and from there,to the civil hospital.
Though Kumar initially managed to flee,he was later on arrested. “Taking a serious view of his actions,the accused has been dismissed from service,” the commissioner said.
