Daring Shivraj Singh Chouhan to keep his word and take political sanyas, the opposition Congress on Saturday alleged the CM’s brother-in-law Sanjay Singh Masani’s construction firm had landed government contracts worth crores in violation of rules over last six years.
A couple of days ago, Chouhan had said on the floor of the assembly that he would not only take political sanyas but go to the extent of renouncing the world if corruption allegations leveled against any member of his family were proved.
In a letter to Chouhan, former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh alleged that Masani’s firm M/S Neelaksh Infrastructure had been registered by the PWD department in A-3 category although it did not have experience of one Rs 50-lakh construction work on May 24, 2006 and within few days the licence was upgraded to A-4 category. “It’s incredible that between May 21 and 26 the firm completed construction worth Rs 4 crore when its capital was only Rs 8 lakh.”
Chouhan and Singh have engaged in bitter recrimination over the MPPEB scam over the past few days with the former announcing that irregularities in appointments during the 10-year Congress rule will also be probed.
