Congress MLA ‘forged’ documents to admit daughter in DU

A senior MLA is in the dock for allegedly admitting his daughter in a Delhi University college.

A senior Congress MLA in the city is in the dock for allegedly admitting his daughter in a Delhi University college using fake documents following which the college authorities have filed a complaint with the police.

The allegation was levelled by Delhi BJP President Vijender Gupta while releasing documents related to a police complaint filed by Mata Sundri College against Jungpura MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah, who is also Parliamentary Secretary to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Police said it was investigating the matter.

Gupta alleged that Marwah got his daughter admitted in Bachelor of Arts course in Mata Sundari College in July last year by submitting “forged” marksheet of higher secondary examination of Madhya Pradesh State Open School,Bhopal.

“We want immediate arrest of Marwah. We will meet Home Minister P Chidambaram demanding a CBI probe into the fraud.

It is a major issue,” Gupta said alleging that Dikshit was sheilding the MLA.

Marwah did not respond to calls on his mobile phone while Principal of the Mata Sundari College Kanwarjeet Kaur was not available for comment.

Giving a run-down of the case,Gupta said following an inquiry,Kaur had lodged a written complaint with IP Estate Police Station on Saturday against Marwah, his daughter Jasmin Kaur Marwah and others.

Gupta alleged that Marwah wrote a letter on his official letterhead to chairman of Mata Sunderi College on July 5,2011 requesting admission for his daughter who sent it to the Principal.

“The senior secondary examination certificate no. 2001937776 was attached with the letter. This certificate was shown to have been issued by the Open School,Bhopal,” said Gupta, adding that the certificate showed that Marwah’s daughter got a total of 255 marks out of 500.

He told reporters that Marwah’s daughter submitted the admission form in Mata Sunderi College on July 12 along with a hand written affidavit in the college following which she was admitted by the college authorities.

Following allegations of fraud in the admission, the principal of the college sent a special messenger to the Open School in Bhopal to check the veracity of the certificate produced by the girl to get the admission.

He said the Open School informed the Mata Sundari College that the certificate bearing no 2001937776 was also forged and that there is no record of issuing a certificate bearing that number.

In its complaint letter to police, which was produced by Gupta, the college principal Kaur said despite a number of reminders, the girl and his family have not been able to prove that the documents are genuine.

“Despite,a number of reminders they have failed to give explanation and I am convinced that the certificates are forged,as reported by the Madhya Pradesh state Open School,” Kaur said in her complaint to the police.

“It is apparent that the accused not only forged the documents but also forged the seal of Additional Director,Exams of Madhya Pradesh state Open School,Bhopal,” said the complaint by the principal.
