Barely a month after taking over as the commissioner of Gurgaon division, senior IAS officer Pradeep Kasni was Monday shunted out. His fresh posting orders will be issued later, a government press release said. Two other senior officers of Rewari district, which comes under the jurisdiction of Gurgaon division, are also likely to be transferred by Tuesday.
Kasni had taken on the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led Congress government in its last leg when he raked up the issue of appointment of information commissioners under the Right to Service Act. While being posted in the personnel department of the state government, Kasni had held the appointments wrong and illegal.
When the BJP government took over, Kasni was given the coveted position of Commissioner, Gurgaon division. His term has hardly lasted a month. “The Haryana government has given the additional charge of Commissioner, Gurgaon Division, to Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner, Rohtak Division, in place of Pradeep Kasni.
While Haryana Chief Secretary P K Gupta termed it as a “routine transfer”, Kasni cried foul.
“I am shocked to learn that I have been shunted out. What could be more humiliating that the government has said that my fresh posting orders shall be issued later. I have been trying to speak to the Chief Minister but have not succeeded,” he said.
Sources said the government found fault in the manner in which Kasni had ordered “uniform compensation” to farmers whose land was under acquisition for construction of a logistics hub in Bawal. After a section of farmers protested against what they termed was an ‘erroneous compensation procedure’, the state government is learnt to have taken a tough stand ordering Kasni’s transfer.
