CM seeks Centre’s clearance of canal network projects

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has urged Union Minister for Water Resources Harish Chandra Singh Rawat to personally intervene and expeditiously clear projects worth Rs 4128.43 crore for rehabilitation,extension,renovation and modernization of the canal network in Punjab,which had already been sent for technical clearance to the Central Water Commission (CWC).

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has urged Union Minister for Water Resources Harish Chandra Singh Rawat to personally intervene and expeditiously clear projects worth Rs 4128.43 crore for rehabilitation,extension,renovation and modernization of the canal network in Punjab,which had already been sent for technical clearance to the Central Water Commission (CWC).

Badal,who called on Rawat on Wednesday evening,told the Union minister that the existing century-old canal network’s capacity to carry water in Punjab had been reduced by 25 per cent and thus,needed to be revamped.
