It was a literal give and take principle – the way CM Parkash Singh Badal told villagers of Pakkakalan about the works done for them in the past few years. The largest village in Talwandi Sabo with over 6000 votes had this year not voted in favour of ruling alliance. CM went for sangat darshan this afternoon and first of all he took out a slip from his pocket and started reading the data before the villagers,” during the previous tenure of Harsimrat Kaur Badal as Bathinda MP, she had released grants worth Rs 3.75 crores for this village and SAD lagged behind 100 votes this time compared to previous election. Judge us on the basis of our performance and vote also as per the works done.”
CM was visibly upset over the low winning margin of Harsimrat and Pakkakalan was not the lone village, but CM speaks this in every village of Talwandi Sabo where he was going that how the village voted and how much money was spent for development purpose.
In village Jaga Ram Tirath, however the villagers did not object to what all CM was giving his calculations as the villagers were simply happy to see him. Villagers said,” It is almost 52 years that a CM has come to our village. After Partap Singh Kairon, no one ever came to our village. So we have no idea as what to demand from him.”
However later a long list of demand began in the form of funds for renovation of dharamshalas , drinking water till every house and even irrigation water supply till tail end which was a problem.Similar was the problem of water shortage in village Chathewala, Ram Tirath Kalan and so on. Majority of the villages are not even getting irrigation supply till tail end of villages and as the constituency was with Congress MLAs for the past 25 years, it remained neglected whenever SAD came in power, reasoned villagers.
It needs to be mentioned that as a matter of trend, villagers have started living within the farm area by leaving their village house and hence are demanding power supply lines, water supply lines till farm area which is a cost incurring project and though CM mentioned that it involves huge cost, but with by elections round the corner, he is accepting demands of all the villagers. In village Chathwala, villagers had announced to show black flags to CM as they were devoid of water supply, power supply etc, but the threat worked and now villagers have got power line till their houses in farms and water supply is the next agenda which CM says will be completed soon.
Sops before his arrival:
Before CM reaches any village, backlog of Shagun scheme, widow pensions are being cleared and even utensils are also being distributed to dalits as per the scheme which were kept on hold before the Lok Sabha elections. Sports kits, gym for youngsters and much more are also being gifted ahead of by elections in these series of sangat darshan progrrames.
