The Gujarat government reinstated suspended IPS officer Abhay Chudasama in late night transfer of eight IPS officers on Thursday and transferred Vadodara Police Commissioner Satish Sharma to GUVNL making E Radhakrishnan the new Police Commissioner of Vadodara.
After his release from Taloja jail in Mumbai, Chudasama, who is an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case, had written to the state government to reinstate him to the state police. The state Home department had approved his application and reinstated him.
Chudasama has been posted as Superintendent of Vigilance department in Gandhinagar. He was arrested in April 2010 by CBI in the case when he was the DCP of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch. The CBI had chargesheeted Chudadasama of extortion along with former MoS Home Amit Shah in the case.
In another important transfer, Vadodra Police Commissioner Satish Sharma was shifted to GUVNL, a non-executive posting. E Rdhakrishan, who was Range IG of Junagadh, has been appointed in his place.
Brajesh Jha who was the DIG modernisation was shifted to Junagadh as Range DIG while Rajkot IGP Praveen Sinha has replaced Jha.
In addition, D J Patel who was posted in Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (vigilance) has been shifted to Vadodara as additional commissioner police (traffic).
DIG R J Savani of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam will take over as additional commissioner police (administration) in Ahmedabad. D R Patel who was additional commissioner police (traffic) has been shifted as Rajkot Range IGP.
Meanwhile, four IPS officers of 2011 and 2012 batch who finished their training at the National Police Training Academy have been appointed as Assistant Superintendents of Police.
