Waving alleged revenue documents of purchases made by Robert Vadra,son-in-law of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi,at much less rates than the collector rate at Shakarpuri village in Mewat,INLD chief and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala on Thursday demanded a judicial probe into all land purchases made by Vadra in Haryana.

He further alleged that Congress MLA from Nuh,Aftab Ahmed, had got a party ticket for selling his land to Vadra, and in lieu of the same,Ahmed’s ancestral land was included in the revised Gurgaon Master Plan.

While releasing the documents to the media,Chautala alleged that Real Earth Estate Pvt Ltd — a firm owned by Vadra — purchased 29 acres of land in Mewat at a price of Rs 71 lakh while the collector rate of the land was fixed at Rs 4.5 crore. He added that the market price of said land at the time of purchase in May 2009 was over Rs 14 crore.

“This land falls in NCR and is abutting the Rajasthan border. Vadra,as the company director, made all these purchases in connivance with the government,” he said.

Chautala added: “Usually, the collector is one-third of the market value of the property and the rate at that time was Rs 16 lakh per acre against the market price of Rs 40 to 50 lakh… One piece of land measuring 11 acre and 5 marla was registered in only Rs 24 lakh against the collector rate of Rs 1.75 crore and market price of Rs 5 crore. Similarly, another land measuring 9 acre 4 kanal and 15 marla was registered at Rs 20 lakh against its collector rate of Rs 1.5 crore and market rate of Rs 4.5 crore.”

“The whole point is that the government allowed these properties to be registered at a much less value against the land sale/purchase norms to oblige the son-in-law of Sonia Gandhi. These properties would not have allowed to be registered at a value less than the collector rate had it been a common man,” said Chautala.

He further claimed that these land registries were conducted by Nuh MLA Aftab Ahmed’s relatives. Those who sold their properties to oblige Vadra were Ahmed’s wife Maimoona, his mother Firdaus Begum, and the wives of his two brothers,Razia and Ruby Tabassum.

Chautala, while appreciating activist Arvind Kejriwal for his expose on Vadra, said he had only touched the tip of the iceberg,as scams are much bigger in Haryana.

While accusing the government of twisting facts to save itself in the Wazirabad land scandal,Chautala said that during his tenure as the chief minister, his government had started a process to acquire 912 acres in Manesar for facilities for industrial workers. “But the Hooda government started releasing this land to farmers from DLF and other builders purchased it at throwaway prices… My government notified acquisition proceedings of 653 acres in sectors 59 and 60 in Sonepat for a residential colony but the Hooda government released this land to builders,” he added.

He also alleged that the Hooda government had violated all set norms of tendering while handing over 350 acres of land in Wazirabad to DLF at throwaway prices. “Hooda has been challenging that if someone proves that he released even an inch of land to anybody,he will quit politics. It is time for him to keep his word,” said Chautala.
