The special additional sessions court in Kozhikode would pronounce the quantum of punishment for the 12 convicts, including three local CPM leaders, who were found guilty of murdering Marxist rebel leader T P Chandrasekharan on January 28.
A day after the court found the 12 guilty and acquitted 24 others in the case, the court on Friday heard the arguments of the prosecution and the defence.
Observing that the case was rarest of the rare, the prosecution contended that the accused should be given maximum punishment. The prosecution pointed out the brutality of the attack — Chandrasekharan had sustained 51 hacks. He was killed on May 4, 2012.
