Centre influencing Saradha probe, says Trinamool MP

He said that the BJP was trying to put up these stunts because they anticipated a poor performance in the upcoming bypolls.

Leader of the Trinamool Congress in the Lok Sabha Sudip Bandopadhyay on Sunday alleged that the CBI and the Centre had joined hands to tarnish the reputation of the TMC government in Bengal by associating its leaders with the Saradha group.

“The TMC is keeping a tab on how the CBI probe into the Saradha case is advancing because it feels that the investigation is under the influence of the Central government,” Bandopadhyay said Sunday at a press conference.

He added that there were 45 Trinamool MPs in Parliament and they might visit Narendra Modi over the issue. “At the moment, we have 46 minus one MPs. One is behind the bars. So, all 45 MPs might visit the PMs residence and put in a complaint and request him to step in so that there was no political intervention into the probe,” he said, adding that it was a well-known fact that the Prime Minister’s Office was closely monitoring the developments of the probe and the PM should ensure that the CBI didn’t end up as a pawn in the hands of the ruling party.

Bandopadhyay said there could be a possible link between suspended MP Kunal Ghosh dragging in the name of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the visit of BJP president Amit Shah. He said that the BJP was trying to put up these stunts because they anticipated a poor performance in the upcoming bypolls.
