The CBI has filed a chargesheet against its own senior official — Superintendent of Police D K Barik — along with two other accused, including the former Aide-de-Camp (ADC) of former Punjab Governor-cum-Chandigarh Administrator General (retd.) S F Rodrigues — in an alleged corruption case.
The chargesheet, filed before Special Judge Gurdeep Singh, names D K Barik, SP with CBI, Delhi branch, Nirvikar Singh, a former ADC of a former Punjab Governor and Bhupinder Singh.
In the present case, it is alleged by the CBI that Nirvikar Singh had obtained illegal gratification from accused Bhupinder Singh in the name of D K Barik – with the promise that he would provide relief to him in an under trial case. CBI claims that for this purpose, accused Bhupinder agreed to pay Rs 30 lakh in two installments of Rs 15 lakh each.
During the preliminary investigation, role of the CBI officer — on whose name the bribe was being demanded — was put under a scanner.
However, sources said that based on the disclosure by Bhupinder, the agency named the senior CBI official as the accused.
The CBI has further alleged that Nirvirkar is the main person, who induced Bhupinder to pay money for SP, CBI in lieu of settlement of the under trial case.
It further alleged that out of Rs 15 lakh taken from Bhupinder through his son, Nirvirkar had allegedly taken out Rs 3 lakh for himself.
