Asserting it would not enter into alliance with any party in the coming elections in Orissa, the Bahujan Samaj Party on Monday decided to field candidates in all the 21 Lok Sabha and 147 assembly seats this time.
Despite not opening its account in Orissa so far,the party refused to go for alliance with any other parties claiming that its support base continued to grow since the 2000 assembly elections.
While the BSP had captured 1.15 per cent of votes in Orissa fielding candidates in 105 assembly segments, the vote per centage increased to 1.93 Per cent in 2004.
The BSP had fielded 86 candidates in 2004 assembly elections.
State party leader Siddharth Patil said BSP supremo Mayawati would announce names of party candidates at a public meeting scheduled to be held at Sambalpur on March 24,Party sources said.
despite having considerable support base among the tribals and dalits, the BSP could not reach all places due to poor organisation in the state.
But this time, the party expected to make its presence felt in the state by fielding candidates in all the lok sabha and assembly segments,Patil said.
