BSF man fires near CM Omar Abdullah’s residence, detained by J&K police

Constable Keshto Gosh, who joined BSF in 2012, was detained after he fired a few rounds early morning causing panic in the area.

A Border Security Force personnel has been detained by the J&K police after he opened fire on early Monday morning while performing duties on the Gupkar road – close to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s residence. Police officials say they have registered an FIR and are investigating the case.

Constable Keshto Gosh, who joined BSF in 2012, was detained after he fired a few rounds early morning causing panic in the area.

“We are investigating the case,” a police official said. “But it seems he is mentally disturbed.”

Meanwhile, a senior BSF official told The Indian Express that after the incident, the constable has been disarmed. “There was a sudden abnormal behaviour when he was on duty and he fired in the air ,” he said. “Doctors would check what led to the incident.”

There were no casualties or deaths in the incident.
