No promotions in general category in last 4 years: Vets
AMRITSAR: Veterinary Officers Association (VOA),Amritsar,critisised the indifferent attitude of the state government and said that due to this no promotion in the general category have taken place for the past four years. Three out of four posts of the Joint Directors have been lying vacant while 25 doctors have been waiting for their promotions as deputy Director in the state.
Reshuffle: 10 IPS officers transferred
Chandigarh: In a major reshuffle in the Punjab police the government on Friday transferred 10 IPS officers posted as IGs and DIGs. Arun Kumar Oraon has been posted as IG community policing,Kuldeep Singh will be IG training,RP Mittal has been posted as IG training armed battalions,Jalandhar,Pramod Ban will be IG and Director SSG,Gautam Cheema has been posted as IG /CDO Bahadurgarh Patiala,Surinder Singh has been posted as IG Internal vigilance,Paramraj Singh will be IG Zonal-2 Jalandhar,Tejinderpal Singh will be IG EOW,Lok Nath will be DIG border range and Gurinder Singh Dhillon will be DIG Jalandhar range.
EC issues schedule to register eligible voters
CHANDIGARH: The Election Commission of India has issued a detailed schedule for special summary revision of electoral rolls on the basis of January 1,2014 in the state to register eligible voters. A government spokesman on Friday said that Primary publication of Voters Lists has been made,whereas the claims and objection have been demanded from September 6 to October 4. Objections would be addressed at concerned polling station on September 15,22 and 29. He added that citizens who attain the age of 18 or above on or before January 1,2014 can register themselves as voters in the form No 6.
Bhandari new V-C of planning board
Chandigarh: The state government on Friday appointed senior BJP leader Prof Rajinder Bhandari as vice-chairman of Punjab State Planning Board. Cheif Minister Parkash Singh Badal approved the appointment by clearing the file Friday morning.
ACD will be made a public issue: Jakhar
Ludhiana: Advance credit deposit (ACD) in power bills will be made a public issue and a debate on it will be held in the Assembly,CLP leader Sunil Jakhar said in Ludhiana on Friday. Jakhar was holding a meeting with industrialists,who complained that they had been sent hefty power bills in name of ACD. The power corporation is charging ACD as security,the amount of which is calculated on the basis of the power used by the consumer in the whole year. It claims to give interest on the security,but the consumers are complaining about paying large amounts as ACD.
PWD staff worried over downsizing
Ludhiana: Employees of the Public Works Department (PWD) have alleged that their work is being given to others in a move to downsize the department. For example,maintenance work at government colleges,which was earlier done by PWD,had been given to the colleges,they said. PWD Chief Engineer Rampal gave a memorandum on the issue to PWD Minister Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon.
