The State Vigilance Bureau Tuesday nabbed two inspectors posted at Punjab Roadways depot Sri Muktsar Sahib red-handed while accepting a bribe. Chief Director-cum-DGP Vigilance Bureau,Sursh Arora,said they caught Gurdip Singh and Jaswant Singh demanding and accepting bribe from Jasbir Singh,a conductor at the Punjab Roadways Depot,Ferozpur. Jasbir had complained that the accused had checked his bus on March 25 and had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 for not reporting a complaint against him.

Punjab notifies minor mining rules

The Punjab government Tuesday notified the “The Punjab Minor Mineral Rules,2013” to ease out the supply of minor minerals. Under the rules,the environmental approval of mines having area below five hectares will be accorded by a district level committee.

Man held for murdering brother

The Rohtak police Tuesday arrested a Shivaji colony resident,Sahil,on charges of murdering his brother,Kailash,over an ongoing property dispute. Sahil was produced in court and sent to one-day police custody for recovery of weapon used in the crime.

‘Women should be aware of social evils’

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday called upon women to be aware of social evils like female foeticide and domestic violence so they can contribute to eradicating such evils. Hooda was speaking after flagging off ‘Mahila Aatamraksha Jagrukta Rally’ organised by Indian Media Centre,at his residence.

HSLSA issues lok adalats’ schedule

The Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA) has issued the schedule for holding Lok Adalats from April to June 2013. Special Lok Adalats will be held for cases of Motor Accident Claim Tribunal (MACT) in all district courts on May 25.

Haryana completes RAPID in four districts

The Haryana government has covered four districts under the Rapid Appraisal of Programme Implementation in District (RAPID) to assess and ensure that all health facilities and services provided by the state’s health department are accessible to people. After Panipat,Mewat and Bhiwani,Sirsa is the fourth such district where the program has been completed.
