Three new judges will be sworn in by Bombay High Court on May 13. Member secretary of the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority P N Deshmukh,secretary general of the Supreme Court A I S Cheema and Registrar General of the HC S B Shukre have been elevated as additional judges of Bombay HC .
The HC with its principal bench in Mumbai and other benches at Aurangabad,Nagpur and Goa has a sanctioned strength of 75 judges. The court,however,has 49 sitting judges at present.
Deshmukh has earlier served as a City Civil Court judge and presided over the special NDPS court in Mumbai. Cheema has served as the registrar general of Bombay High Court before he was appointed as secretary general of Supreme Court.
Shukre was appointed as Registrar General March 17,2011,and served as principal district judge in Nagpur. He was transferred to Mumbai from Kolhapur to set up Maharashtra Judicial Academy and Indian Mediation Centre and Training Institute in Uttan.
Chief Justice Mohit Shah will administer the oath at the ceremony at Bombay HC.
