BJP to hold ‘jail bharo andolan’ on June 1

Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party chief Kamal Sharma on Thursday announced that the party would hold a statewide 'jail bharo andolan’ on June 1 against the UPA government.

Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party chief Kamal Sharma on Thursday announced that the party would hold a statewide ‘jail bharo andolan’ on June 1 against the UPA government. Terming it as the most corrupt government in independent India,he alleged that UPA was subverting the institutional framework of the country to serve its single point agenda to “loot public money”.

“We will stage protests at all district headquarters in the state and BJP workers will lay siege all district headquarters to voice their concern over corruption and scams in which the UPA government is involved,” Sharma said adding “Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has lost the moral right to be at the helm of affairs and he must resign to restore the faith of common people in democratic institutions”.

He stated that a significant number of cabinet ministers had been tainted by various scams. “Evidence available on record clearly indicate that the PM has willingly allowed this loot to happen. The mother of all scams – Coal allocation row – happened when the Coal Ministry was with Dr Singh. The Prime Minister’s office directly intervened in the investigation of the coal scam and the law minister tried to tamper with the report at the behest of the PM,’’ he added.

He also said that it was in this light that the Supreme Court observed that the CBI was a caged parrot. “From these developments it is evident that as long as Singh continues as the PM,we cannot expect a free and fair probe into all the scams. Therefore,BJP demands that the PM should resign immediately,’’ he stated.

The UPA government has failed on all fronts. Under the ’eminent economist’ PM,the Indian economy has hit bottom levels. The growth rate has fallen manifold and there is lack of enthusiasm in all sectors. The GDP is spiralling down, while prices are sky rocketing,he added.
