Bangalore police have begun a hunt for a man who raped and killed an eight-year-old girl at a construction site at the Pillagumpa industrial area near Hoskote on Thursday.
A CCTV camera at an LPG service centre near the crime site has captured images of the child being lead away by the man to a temporary garage where he committed the crime. Police are hoping the CCTV footage will help them identify and nab the attacker. The CCTV visuals show the man taking the child into the garage and walking out alone after 30 minutes.
The incident occurred between 3.30 pm and 4 pm on Thursday, Inspector General of Police (central range), J Arun Chakravarthy said. It came to light around 6 pm when the parents of the girl began searching for the girl, who was a student in Class II at a government school nearby. Police said the attacker had ensnared the child early in the day and forced her to go with him. She reportedly roamed around with the miscreant without any sense of danger.
