Aulakh is Amritsar Police Commissioner
Amritsar: Jatinder Singh Aulakh on Sunday assumed charge as Amritsar Commissioner of Police. Before assuming the charge,he paid obeisance at Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple and paid homage to the Jallianwala Bagh martyrs. Aulakh said his priority would be to ensure efficient and active police administration. He added that anti-social elements would be dealt with strictly. Aulakh joined Punjab Police in 1990 as probationer Deputy Superintendent of Police.
Rs 6 cr package for SBS Nagar

Haryana gets IT cadre for e-governance
Chandigarh: The state government has decided to set up a IT cadre of professionals for adequate manpower resources to implement e-governance solutions. For this purpose,IT cadre rules have been prepared by Information Technology department. Besides,153 websites have also been launched in the state.
Discoms to release pending connections
Chandigarh: The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam have decided to release the pending high-tension connections of all categories immediately upto the load of 500 KVA wherever capacity is available during the lean period. A government spokesperson on Sunday said,In order to rule out any apprehension of overloading during peak season,an undertaking from such consumer will be taken that the load can be restricted wholly or partially to avoid overloading of the distribution system. The discoms have authorsied sub-divisional officers to release such connections.
Cops impound illegal mining material in HP
Nahan: In a joint raid on illegal mining along the banks of the rivers at Rampur Ghat,Navada,Bhoop Pur and Bata Mandi,55 vehicles were found carrying
illegal mining material from these areas on Sunday. SDM Paonta Sharawan Manta said 30 vehicles were fined on the spot and a fine of Rs. 2.25 lakh was collected while 25 vehicles were impounded by the team. He said that the impounded vehicles would be released only if the imposed fine is paid to the Himachal government.
