ASI caught taking bribe dismissed

Taking cognizance of the arrest of one of its men by the UT Vigilance on graft charges,the Haryana Police on Wednesday dismissed the officer,ASI Jagdish Ram,from service and suspended another,ASI Jitender Kumar.

Taking cognizance of the arrest of one of its men by the UT Vigilance on graft charges,the Haryana Police on Wednesday dismissed the officer,ASI Jagdish Ram,from service and suspended another,ASI Jitender Kumar. The Kaithal Crime Branch incharge was also transferred to police lines.

On Tuesday,the Chandigarh Vigilance had arrested ASI Jagdish Ram red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh. Ram,belonging to the 1st Battalion of the Haryana Armed Police in Ambala,was on general area security duty at Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s residence.

According to preliminary interrogation,Ram had accepted the bribe on behalf of ASI Jitender Kumar,posted at Seewan police station in Kaithal. Kumar was the investigating officer of a cheating and immigration act case registered at Kaithal on August 5,last year.

Kaithal’s Crime Branch incharge Raj Kumar,whose role has also come under scanner,has been transferred.
