The widow of a slain key witness in a rape case against self-proclaimed godman Asaram has demanded Rs 50 lakh in compensation, an arms licence and assistance for education of her 6-year-old son and an unborn child.
Thirty-five-year-old Moni Singh, widow of Shajahanpur resident Kripal Singh who was shot at by unidentified assailants on July 10 and succumbed to injuries a day later, has written a letter to UP CM Akhilesh Yadav saying her husband was the sole bread earner of the family.
Moni, who is five months pregnant, said she is an “educated unemployed”. She said she has done her BSc and has a diploma in computer application. “It is a matter of my life and that of my children as we do not have any other source of income,” reads her letter to the CM.
