Kejriwal said that the system, from top to bottom has collapsed and needs to be amended.

Capping a stunning run by his year-old Aam Aadmi Party, former Indian Revenue Service officer Arvind Kejriwal will be sworn in as Delhi’s youngest Chief Minister on Saturday. The 45-year-old will be administered the oath of office, along with six cabinet ministers,at the Ramlila Maidan, the place where he first joined activist Anna Hazare in 2011 to spearhead a movement for stringent anti-corruption laws.

But Hazare will not be there to watch him take charge. “I have spoken to Anna and he has said he will not be able to attend the oath-taking ceremony due to ill-health,” Kejriwal said.

He and his colleagues will take the Metro to reach Ramlila Maidan. He said he will board a Metro for Barakhamba Road once he leaves home in Kaushambi. From Barakhamba Road,he will travel by car to Ramlila Maidan. He said he did not think his boarding the Metro will pose a security problem since he is a common man.

The oath-taking ceremony will take place at 12 noon. Kejriwal plans to visit Rajghat before his first cabinet meeting at the Delhi Secretariat. “After taking oath as Delhi’s chief minister,I will call a cabinet meeting at 2 pm on Saturday.”

He said he will also meet transport department officials on Saturday to discuss problems being faced by auto-rickshaw drivers.

Kejriwal now faces the immediate challenge of fulfilling a number of promises made in the run-up to the elections like passage of the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill, cutting power tariff by 50 per cent and supplying 700 litres of free water to each household in the city.

Public expectations are high since he and his party capitalised on the disillusionment of different sections — from the auto-rickshaw driver to slum dwellers to the middle class — with mainstream political parties.

The AAP government, with outside support from the Congress, has a little over two months to deliver on its promises before the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha polls is enforced.

His moves on the promise to probe allegations of corruption against the Sheila Dikshit government will also be watched carefully as he led AAP to electoral victory, pledging to root out corruption. But his minority government will depend on the Congress for survival.
