A joint action forum of eight unions of Air India employees adopted on Thursday a no pay,no work policy demanding pending dues and regular salaries.
We are looking to give the management a week to ten days before we strike work, unless we are paid on time. We have been trying to get in touch with the management, but so far have been unable to schedule a meeting, a pilot said.
A statement issued by the joint action forum said: We have had a series of meetings in the last one year. We are worried at the way important issues affecting us are being overlooked. It has been communicated to the management from time to time but it appears the management is not serious.
The forum of Executive Pilots Association,Indian Pilots Guild,Air India Engineers Association,Air India Officer Association,Air India Employees Union,All India Service Engineers Association,All India Cabin Crew Association and Air India Aircraft Engineers Association wants the management to clear pending salaries, regularise salaries and implement recommendations of the Dharmadhikari report by entering into bilateral agreements with the unions.
Air India spokesperson declined comment.
Earlier this month,Indian Commercial Pilots Association had written to Air Indias managing director that members of the association had not been paid flying allowances from May to August and salaries for August and September. It requested the management to look into the issue on priority.
The association also took up the matter with the Minister for Civil Aviation through a subsequent letter saying matters at Air India were not too different that at Kingfisher Airlines and the minister should intervene at the earliest to restore normalcy.
