Shimla: After a prolonged wait,Air India on Wednesday started its regular flights for Dharamsala and Kullu from Delhi.
The first flight of run Air India landed at Gaggal airport in Dharamsala with Kings XI Punjab team on Wednesday on the eve of the a IPL match slated to be held at Dharamsala on May 16.
Transport minister G S Bali said: Himachal Pradesh has suffered heavilly as there was no flight coming to the state since September last year. But after the efforts made by Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and senior government officials to convince the Centre,the Air India ,for the first time,has started its operation in the state. We thank Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Aviation Minister Ajit Singh for their interventions.
Anurag Thakur,president of Himachal Cricket Association,said that during the first one-day international cricket match held at Dharamshala,they faced a huge problem in bringing the teams,cricket officials and other VVIPs.
IPL match today,emergency measures on standby
Dharamsala: The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association for the first time has prepared an emergency disaster management plan keeping itself in fully readiness in case of emergency situation arising out of natural calamities like earthquake ahead of the Thursdays IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Delhi Daredevils. SP of Kangra said,We will oversee the security in three-tier security ring .The players have been advised not to move out with informing the police.
