Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu Monday reviewed the preparedness of various ministries for the Budget Session of Parliament, due from February 23.
Those present at the meeting included Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Consumer Affairs and Food Minister Ramvilas Paswan, Law Minister Sadananda Gowda, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi, HRD Minister Smriti Zubin Irani, Rural Development Minister Birendra Singh, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, Minister of State for Power and Coal Piyush Goyal, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Pon Radhakrishnan, Minister of State for Agriculture Sanjiv Baliyan and Minister of State for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
This was the second review of the status of legislative preparedness undertaken by Naidu. Listing priorities, he said the Discussion on Motion of Thanks to the President for his address, financial business, replacement of six ordinances by bills and bills proposed for both introduction and consideration and passing would take precedence in the session.
The Parliamentary affairs minister told them that the ministries concerned should give notices for introduction of bills for replacement of ordinances by Tuesday.
As many as 20 bills are ready for introduction and consideration and passing.
