Two pilots of Red Bulls aerobatic team on Thursday had a miraculous escape after the wings of their aircraft touched each other mid-air while doing stunts.
Two Red Bull stunt aircraft collided in mid-air while performing at the Aero India defence expo in Bengaluru. The aircraft were part of a three-plane formation and collided while attempting an inverted loop.
The aircraft landed safely but with their wings damaged. “Flying Bulls” from the Czech Republic were in middle of their stunt when this accident took place.
“Both pilots are safe. A precautionary foreign object removal (parade) was carried out on the runway following the accident. The airshow resumed after the precautionary check,” IAF spokesperson S S Birdi said.
The team had performed in earlier editions of the Aero India in 2011 and in 2013.
