Mumbai:Acid attack victim Preeti Rathi (24) will be shifted to Bombay Hospital,Marine Lines,for surgery of the food pipe. Dr Ashok Gupta of Bombay Hospital will be undertaking her treatment. She was admitted to Masina Hospital. Dr R B Dastur,director of Masina Hospital said,“She will undergo reconstruction surgery of the food pipe,which was damaged because she ingested the acid.”
Dalits injured in clashes in Pandharpur
MUMBAI:Twenty persons at a Dalit locality in Ajansond village in Pandharpur taluka,Solapur district,were injured in clashes over naming a place in the area Saturday. Ten of the injured have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Pandharpur hospital. Sources said 30 people were involved in the attack. The state government has ordered district officials to take action against the accused. Meanwhile,the local Dalit association has called for a bandh in Pandharpur as a sign of protest.
Vidarbha reels under heat wave
Nagpur:The heat wave in Vidarbha has further intensified with at least seven of the 11 districts registering over 46 degrees Celsius on Saturday. Nagpur registered the highest 47 degrees,inching closer to the May 26,1954,record of 47.8 degrees and last year’s 46.9.
